Piri-Piri Camarão is a traditional Portuguese dish prepared with piri-piri sauce and shrimps. It is a fiery, delicious dish and can be prepared in no time. Have the sauce prepared in advance so that you can enjoy this dish whenever you crave for it. The shrimps have to be marinated in the piri-piri sauce for 30 minutes and then, either fried or grilled. They can be served as an appetizer or eaten with a meal or enjoyed over a bed of salad.
Another option, is to top a pizza with the marinated shrimps. Partially bake the crust first and then, spread the marinara sauce, cheese and shrimps. The raw shrimps will cook in the oven (see picture below).
Shrimps are low in fat and calories. They contain no carbohydrates but have omega-3 fats which are good for the heart. Though shrimps are known to be high in cholesterol, the American Heart Association indicated that moderate amounts of shrimp consumption if prepared correctly, can be heart healthy.
