Beef steaks are garnished with onion rings to give a frilly look. Thin undercut marinated slices of beef are pan fried and slightly caramelized. Onions are tossed in oil and splashed with Worcestershire sauce while still maintaining their crunch. A protein rich dish served as a starter.

Frilly Beef Steaks
(Serves 4)
Ingredients:
8 beef slices
1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon crushed red chilli flakes
2 tablespoons of coarsely ground pepper (use pepper mill)
1 large onion cut into 1/4” rings
2 + 3 tablespoons oil
salt
Method:
Marinate beef slices with 1/3 cup of Worcestershire sauce and rest of the ingredients except onion and oil for a couple of hours.
On medium heat, place a large skillet with 2 tablespoons of oil. Add the onion rings with 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and a pinch of salt. Lightly toss the onions till translucent but still crunchy. Transfer to a serving dish.
In the same skillet, add the balance 3 tablespoons of oil. Increase the flame to medium high. When the oil is hot, add the marinated beef slices. The meat will start to release its juices. Flip the slices and let them cook till tender and slightly caramelized. Do not dry the meat or it will be tough. Serve steaks with onions rings garnished all around for a frilly look.
