These shrimps are light, packed with flavor and an easy appetizer to make. Popcorn shrimps are a sure hit with kids and adults. You can add some Parmesan cheese or herbs of your choice. Serve them with sweet and sour sauce or sweet and spicy chilli sauce.
Popcorn Shrimps
(Serves 8)
Ingredients:
400 gms shrimps (cleaned and deveined)
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika powder
1/2 tsp pepper powder
salt
Mix shrimps with the above ingredients and keep aside.
Heat oil on medium heat for deep frying.
Ingredients for Batter:
1 egg
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons cornflour
a pinch of baking soda
Make a batter of the above ingredients and add shrimps. Deep fry till crisp and brown.
Tips:
For extra crunch, you can substitute rice flour for plain flour. Also, you could coat the shrimps with either cornmeal or panko breadcrumbs.
